Astonis’ innovative technology, Avisto (Astonis’ Virtual Studio) is a S.I.M.P.L.E. software platform for improving usability and interoperability of distributed data sources, applications, and computing resources. Avisto comes with different bundles of both front-end and back-end applications for different domains such as the Chemistry bundle for Computational Chemistry.

The hallmark of Avisto is the simplicity in its presentation and in its use for what is otherwise a complicated, confusing, time-consuming, and difficult process for research or education in computational science. Astonis provides a new way of doing science by making these processes S.I.M.P.L.E.

The Genesis of Astonis

Astonis was formed in 2007 to continue the development of technologies that were originally invented under the non-renewable National Science Foundation (NSF) funded project known as the Computational Science and Engineering Online (CSE-Online, http//CSE-Online.net) when this funding was ended in June of 2007. Shelving this project as has happened with many academic research projects when their funding was terminated would mean accepting the maximum negative return on investment (ROI) of our tax dollars, i.e. a total loss.  We strongly believe that the only way to see the positive ROI of our tax dollars here is to demonstrate that these technologies can benefit our economy and society. Astonis was formed with this aim in mind.
